  • Do I need a note from my doctor?

We will notify your Doctor or midwife via fax transmittal that you have called and are requesting an elective, 3D / 4D Ultrasound. A written order form will be required from a state licensed practitioner prior to any ultrasound. Our ultrasounds are limited diagnostic ultrasounds so it is highly recommend that any medical concern you have be discussed with your Prenatal Healthcare Provider.

  • What if a problem is seen during your scan?

Your doctor will be notified at once. This is why it is so important to choose a facility that hires experienced sonographers licensed through the (ARDMS) American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Julie Wood (Owner & Tech) has extensive OB experience and has done level 2 Ultrasounds for years.

  • Does this take the place of an Ultrasound at my doctor's office?

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Women seeking an elective prenatal Ultrasound with Sono Care must already be receiving treatment with a healthcare provider for prenatal care and have already undergone a medical, diagnostic Ultrasound ordered by their provider to confirm their due date, screen for fetal anomalies, and to look for any other pregnancy related issues. The issues that we are evaluating in the elective prenatal Ultrasound session include a limited diagnostic scan to confirm heartbeat, the number of babies in the pregnancy, the position of the baby, and the placental location. Please note: at no time is this exam to be used in place of a complete diagnostic Ultrasound.

  • Is 3D/4D ultrasound safe?

Extensive studies over 30 years have found that Ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is now normal throughout the United States. In 3D/4D scanning has exactly the same type and intensity of sound waves used as with conventional 2D scanning.

  • Will I always get a clear beautiful picture of my baby?

We pride ourselves on getting the best images possible. Factors that come into play are fetal position, location of the placenta, and the amount of ammonic fluid surrounding the fetus. We make no promises that the images will be similar to those you might have seen elsewhere or even from our clinic. Every baby scans differently. We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of whatever parts of the baby that can be seen. Sometimes we may have to bring you back. My advice to you is DRINK, DRINK, DRINK, to get the best images possible.

  • What can I do to get good pictures of my baby?

Drink plenty of water!!! You should begin to hydrate 3 days prior to your appointment. We recommend drinking at least 80-90 ounces of water a day. Hydration can significantly improve the clarity of an ultrasound.
